Rita has over 25 years of accounting and tax experience, more than half with "Big 4" accounting firms. She has broad-based knowledge in corporate, partnership, individual and employee benefit taxation in both tax consulting and tax return preparation. She has experience in accounting and assurance services, including audits, reviews and compilations.
She works with business owners, from start-ups to SEC companies. Her industry experience is also broad-based including defense contractors, finance, retail, and multinational manufacturing entities as clients. Recently, she has concentrated on technology (software, computer and web-based applications) and telecommunications entities, and professional service firms. Rita also works with individuals: owners of client firms and those with complex situations, to maintain their comfort that tax requirements are met.
Rita has her BA in Accounting and MS in Taxation from Walsh College, Troy, Michigan. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and its Tax Section, the Michigan Association of CPAs and the Virginia Society of CPAs. She is a licensed CPA in Michigan and Virginia.
On the personal side, Rita paints and is beginning to populate a blog with pictures at RitaSchooleyArt. Her youngest child was born on April 15--and, yes, that was the filing deadline that year. Her favorite thing to do is to travel and goes whenever she can--technology comes in handy to stay in touch when she is gone. She is involved with a charity that knits and crochets afghans for wounded soldiers, sailors and air(wo)men, now mainly those involved in Afghanistan [see Rectangle6x9].
